Fall, Winter and the Holidays

Fall, winter and the holidays were in the air when I photographed these cuties last weekend.  Java the gorgeous black cat would only pose with a collar or hat.  Rocky the Boxer kissed me, my assistant and the lens on my camera while Buddy the Lab posed quietly.  Murphy the 11-month old Golden Retriever was beyond excited.  And Thornton (who I’ve had the pleasure of photographing since he was 10 weeks old – he’s almost five now) sat regally with a Christmas bow around his neck.  Bandit helped me with a lighting test and wore a cool Christmas hat.  I’m looking forward to more photo shoots on November 24, December 1 and December 8.  So fun!!!!

Ho-Ho-Ho Happy Holidays!

2016-wheatie-xmas-cardHappy holiday from Molly and Dugan….our sweet soft-coated Wheaten terriers who were the inspiration behind NosesTailsPaws Pet Photography.  Besides sharing their holiday Christmas card they wanted to share a few holiday pictures of Thornton who I have known since he was 12 weeks old and who I had the pleasure of photographing in holiday finery. If you are thinking about having your pet’s portrait taken in 2017, please take a look at my site. Feel free to contact me with questions.  I would love to take pictures of your dog or cat – or you with your pets.  Merry Christmas!

Piper

PIPER - bPiper is a young Scottish Terrier.  It was so much fun photographing her but since she’s so low to the ground, I ended up spending most of my time in the grass with her!   Luckily it was a semi-warm winter day.  We played in the grass, she chased sticks and watched geese fly overhead.  I wanted to use the newly popped out cherry blossoms as a background so I had my assistant hold her up near the tree.  I thought the pink blooms made a nice background for her beautiful black coat shining in the sunlight.

It’s National Dog Day!

Good Golly Miss Molly Belle

4 - Molly official portraitI’ve been taking pictures of so many dogs lately that I thought it was about time I included pictures of one of ours.  It’s Molly’s 4th birthday today and I found a beautiful pink bow to put in her hair.  Actually it’s a stretchy dog collar but I thought it looked rather cute as a headband.  She acquiesced once I bribed her with a homemade peanut butter cookie.  Molly loves those cookies so much I decided to share the recipe here.  Doesn’t she look adorable?

Peanut Butter Dog Cookies
1 cup oats (regular not quick oats)
2 cups flour (rice flour can be used if your dog needs to eat wheat free)
1 cup chunky peanut butter
1 cup water
1 slightly beaten egg
1/4 quarter cup canola oil

Cookies CollageMix together to form slightly sticky ball.  Roll out between two pieces of waxed paper. Cut with  cookie cutter. (I use a 2″ dog bone shaped cookie cutter and make about 36 cookies).  Heat oven to  350 degrees.  Bake on cookie sheet for 20 minutes.  Flip cookies, bake another 20 minutes.  Cool.  Refrigerate – will keep for about 10 days.  I freeze several packs.

Thornton Rocks!

LOGO THORNTON WITH STICKI stopped by my favorite nursery today – Egan Gardens – to pick up some geraniums and ended up spending a good half hour on an impromptu photo shoot with the cutest 12-week old Scottish Terrier.  The nursery’s owners recently lost their Scotty who had been a well-loved fixture on the grounds, so now Thornton (such a big name for such a little guy) will be learning the ropes and greeting the customers.  He is absolutely adorable.  He’s already finding his way around and has become buddies with the resident cat.  Thornton is a busy, curious guy and I can’t wait to go back for more plants and watch him grow!
