- Before the photo shoot.
-
Once we have booked a time and date you will receive a short questionnaire so I can find out more about your pet. What you tell me will really help with the shoot. I will also develop a shot list so I have some idea of where we might start…and of course we can improvise once we meet and your pet is relaxed.
- During the photo shoot.
-
Once we get to know each other a bit, if we are shooting in your home, I’ll look for the best light and talk with you about where your pet likes to sit or play. I’ll shoot in any part of your house that you feel comfortable with me doing so.
If that includes the bathroom because your dog or cat likes to lay on the cool tile floor…then the bathroom it is! I will do the same thing in the studio. I try to make things fun and take lots of breaks for water, treats or whatever. - On the day of the photo shoot.
-
You might want to be sure your dog is a bit hungry (so the treats used during the shoot are attractive to him/her). Also, please exercise your dog before the session so he/she is just a bit tired, but not completely wiped out. If we are in a park location, please bring water for your pet. I will go over my shot list with you and we’ll take some time getting to know each other making sure your pet is comfortable with me. The session will last from 60-90 minutes.
- What does the session fee include?
-
Your session is specifically designed based upon the questionnaire NosesTailsPaws sends you prior to the session. Your session will reflect what best meets your pet’s needs and what you ultimately want as an end product, I don’t have a specific amount of time for shooting, but most times are between one and two hours depending on how many locations we use (your yard, a park, downtown street) and how your pet is feeling. On location preferences are outdoors or urban settings.
This session fee includes a pre-session consultation via email or phone, and approximately 15-25 professionally edited images from which you can select your final printed products. Additional travel costs may be incurred if the shoot takes place outside the Salem/Keizer area.
- Ordering art work.
-
After the shoot, I will process your images. I will need about 10-days to two weeks to do this. Then I will provide you a gallery on this site of the very best images for your review and selection. Usually, clients decide on the images within a few days. We can also talk about your favorite images and discuss which medium would best suit them. Most clients typically invest $800 to $1,000 in finished wall artwork, albums, triplex albums or Keepsake boxes.
- Can I purchase digital images only?
-
Lots of us are “digital hoarders” – we take pictures and keep them on our computer, iPad or phone. I’m guilty of that myself! But since you have taken the time to brush and even bathe your pet….and made the investment to have professional images taken of your pet… don’t you think you should actually have something like a gorgeous canvas image you can hang in a prominent location in your home? So, no, I won’t sell you your images in digital format (unless you purchase one of the options on the products page). Other photographers will – that’s their choice. Another reason I won’t do this is because I take the time to process these images so you have the best color and finished product – and I use a print house I trust. I know that when you receive your prints or canvases, they won’t have a weird green color cast to them and the service won’t have cropped off your pet’s tail by accident.
